37:51 - A Great Question for New Podcasters
It's backed by popular demand. Probably a year ago I asked, are you using AI? Because at the time we're all like, what's AI Again? And now it's more, are you using AI?It's probably better at which AI tool are you using? But I also wanted to know, are you actually really saving time by using AI?And I'm also freshly back from Podcast Movement Evolutions and I learned a new kind of phrase to pinpoint the goal of your show from my buddy Paul Culligan. And I was like, yeah, I'm not going to wait till I talk about podcast movement, which will be in probably next week's episode.I got to do this one here. So that's coming up as well. Hit it ladies. The School of Podcasting with Dave Jackson.Podcasting since 2005 I am your award winning hall of Fame podcast coach Dave Jackson. Thanking you so much for tuning in. If you're new to the show, this is why I help you plan, launch and grow your podcast. If you want to monetize, we can do that too.The website schoolofpodcasting.com use the coupon code listener when you sign up for either a monthly or yearly subscription and that comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. And I'm fresh back from Podcast Movement Evolutions in Chicago. But one of the beautiful things of going to any podcast event is hanging out with other podcasters. If you go out to schoolofpodcasting.com 977 last week I interviewed Ray Arnott from the around the Layout podcast. If you want to check that out, that's@schoolofpodcasting.com 977 and before that we interviewed Stephanie Thompson, who again has a small niche show and was able to partner with people. She's at 97 6.So I always love to go to these events because Ray was talking about how with the model train niche that he's in, you know it's great when you can get around other people that are all in on your subject. So at Podcast Movement Evolutions I was surrounded by other like minded people who love podcasting and that's kind of one of the things I try to do here on the show is once a month I throw out a question of the month and get your feedback and of course you get free exposure.I've kind of always scratched my head that more people don't throw in an answer because I am going to mention your website and I am going to put a link, a follow link by the way, to your website which means free exposure and free SEO. But it is what it is. And yet we all complain that we're not getting enough exposure. It's a bit of a head scratcher, don't you think? But I appreciate everybody who chimed in on this answer, who you will find at today's show, which is schoolofpodcasting.com 978 where we're asking the question, hey, are you using AI? And really at this point is what AI are you using? And so what are you using? And we also kind of wanted to know, do you think it's really saving you time? Or by the time you kind of tweak the results of the AI tool, is it just cheaper to cheaper or I guess quicker to. Well, in terms of time is money. It is cheaper but quicker to do it yourself. Or are you like, yeah, not using that stuff. So here we go.
Craig Van SlykeHi Dave, it's Craig Van Slyke from AI Goes to College, the podcast that helps higher ed professionals navigate generative AI and Live well and Flourish, where I provide practical insights on living a life of purpose and meaning.AI Goes to College is available at aigostocollege.com and Live well and Flourish is available at livewellandflourish.com as you might imagine, I use AI a lot, so I could go on about this all day, but I'll focus on one tool, LEX page that's L E X P A G E. Lex is a low distraction AI enabled writing environment. The lack of distractions makes it easy to focus on my writing, whether I'm writing scripts or newsletter articles. But the real power of Lex is in its AI functions. Lex has a chatbot called Ask Lex, which acts as an editor for your work.It reminds me of a kind of iconic, grumpy newspaper editor that will give you honest feedback on your work but will help you make it better. The keyword there is honest. Lex is not a people pleaser. It will give you honest feedback. It's also great at making suggestions for improvement, even to the point of rewriting, where it's quite good for a bit of fun. I asked Lex to describe itself. Here's what it Unlike conventional AI writing tools that try to write for you, Lex serves as an intelligent writing partner. It offers thoughtful feedback, helps refine your ideas, and provides suggestions while keeping your authentic voice intact.Think of it as having a highly skilled editor and writing coach available 24, seven right at your fingertips. All right, that's what Lex had to say about itself. Lex also has checks for grammar, cliches Brevity, confidence, repetition, and more. One really useful feature of Lex is context tags, which lets you tailor responses to particular uses. For example, I have separate Context tags for AI goes to college and LiveWell and Flourish. If you write scripts, newsletters, or blog posts, you really should check out Lex page. The free version is quite good, but the pro version is even better and it's $12 a month if you pay annually. Check it out, you'll be glad you did.On to the last question. Do I spend more time tweaking my results? Sometimes, yeah, I think I do.But the increase in quality is worth the cost to me and the value is huge to my listeners and readers. Thanks for everything you do for the podcasting community, Dave.
Dave JacksonThank you, Craig.Yeah, even if you're not a professor or a teacher in academia, you definitely want to check out AI Goes to College@aigostocollege.com and check out Live well and Flourish as well. Thank you so much because like, Craig is the guy that lives and breathes AI all the time.So I'm so happy he's actually a member of the school of podcasting.
Ethan ReeseThis is Ethan Reese with Daily Sports History and for me AI has been a huge help. I really use it as a writing assistant. So I take my notes and I put it into perplexity and I have it give me a detailed outline and then I use that to give me my show notes, possible episode titles, as well as ideas for social media posts. So it's giving me writing which I do not like to do so I don't have to focus on it and I don't have to adjust it very much. It does a good job.It gives me sources and I do minor editing to social media posts in the show notes the titles just to get them to sound just right and has saved me countless amount of time and made doing the podcast more fun because I don't have to worry about something I do not like to do and I'm looking into even using more AI tools and automation to help my show become even better. And if you want to check it out, it's daily Sports history. At daily sportshistory.com we give you a moment in sports history to increase your sports knowledge.
Dave JacksonThank you, Ethan. Next up, the one, the only Ralph from Ask Ralph podcast.
Ralph Estep Jr.Hey Dave, it's Ralph Eastupp from the Ask Ralph show, your daily dose of Christian financial wisdom and I'm answering your question this month about AI. Now let me just tell you, doing a daily show, I use a ton of AI.It has really been helpful in not necessarily giving me the final product, but helping me along the process of generation. Once I decide on an idea, basically what I do is every day when I come up with an idea, I do these about a week in advance.I plug what the question is going to be that I'm going to answer into Gemini. I use their deep research function and basically ask it to write me a blog post. Once I've got that blog post, I use that to develop a show script. Now I use PO because it has a aggregation of a lot of the different AI products. But just recently I've also been experimenting with some other products as well. But yes, it's an absolutely vital thing that I do.Now, as you've said on the show many times, I don't rely just on the AI tool, but I got to be honest with you, it's helped me a great deal on trying to assemble my information and then consolidate. And once I do all of that, I put it through another AI model, maybe it's Mistral or one of those other ones, and just say, hey, does this have an impact? Does this really help me convey the message I'm trying to convey? And then another thing I do generally on a daily basis. Now, right now it's tax season, so I haven't had a lot of extra time, but I'll actually put my final script or my final outline through Notebook LM and have it generate a discussion.Because what I have found is many times I will think of other things that I'm as I'm listening to that discussion that will be helpful to conveying the message I'm trying to convey. So to be very candid with you, I use AI on a daily basis and it has been a huge help for me in generating content for my daily show. Now, if you're interested in finding out better ways to manage your finances from a Christian perspective, you can join me over@askralph.com. you can submit your questions there and I would be happy to answer them. Dave, thank you for all you do.And I look forward to hearing the other people's answers as we discuss this topic of AI. And hey, unless you've got your head buried in the sand, you know AI is here to stay and it's just going to get better from here.So thank you, Dave, and to all of you, God bless you and be well.
Dave JacksonThank you, Ralph. Yeah, Ralph is the guy that I'm working with.I'm still working on that episode about running your podcast as a business that'll have the one and only Steve Stewart in it. And I decided to go through the process before I actually reported on it. And Ralph was the guy that's helping me set up.If you need an LLC or an S Corp or things like that, Ask Ralph Podcast is where you can find a show and all of his contact information. And Ralph is a member of the school of podcasting. It seems to be very cool because here's another one, the one and only Kim Newlove.
Kim NewloveThis is Kim Newlove from the Pharmacist Voice podcast and the Perrysburg Podcast. I use Otter AI to help with transcripts and summaries of podcast interviews. That is the number one way that I use AI for podcasting.Back in June of 2023, I downloaded ChatGPT onto my smartphone and. And then I didn't do anything with it for about nine months.Lately, I've been helping a friend update her LinkedIn profile and we're using ChatGPT a little bit for that.I haven't used ChatGPT or generative AI for much of anything, but I can definitely say that I've used Otter AI to get those transcripts and the summaries, and that information helps me craft a unique intro and outro for that particular episode. I would say that it's very useful and I would recommend Otter AI as a transcription tool for you as well. A little bit about me and my podcasts.I have two. My first podcast is called the Pharmacist Voice Podcast. You can find that at the pharmacistvoice.com we talk about pharmacy topics and careers. And my other podcast, it's a little local podcast. It has a very, very targeted audience. It is for my hometown here of Harrysburg, Ohio.We talk about what's in Harrysburg and why people like to live here. It is for current and future Perrysburg residents. You can find that podcast@perrysburgpodcast.com Dave, thank you so much for everything you do for podcasters everywhere. I'm looking forward to hearing what everybody else has to say about using AI for podcasting. I. I have a lot that I could learn from all of you.Thank you for everything you do, Dave. Happy podcasting, everyone.
Dave JacksonThank you, Kim. Next up, my buddy, York.
YorkHi, Dave. This is York from Welcome to Earth Stories. Two of the AI apps that I use all the time is Google LM and also Perplexity. The reason that I use these two is that it has revolutionized the way that I produce all of the shows. Oh, and also a third one, of course, I can't forget 11 labs.First of all, with Perplexity, what I do is I upload the stories into Perplexity and I could just type in a prompt to say, fix the spelling mistakes and the grammar, but keep everything in my voice so it just proofreads the whole entire script. And so this saves a lot of time. And so what I do is I go through the script and to make sure that everything is correct. It's a huge time saver. Also, what I do as well, when it comes to social media with Perplexity, I just ask it to create different posts for X, and then you could do that for any other social media website. And I could say, create five or 10 posts that will play nicely with whatever social media app that I'm using. It's just pretty incredible. And then when it comes to Google lm, what I do is I run my podcast through to them so that they will listen to it. But this is so that I could test my ideas. I put in a prompt and I say, what is the most engaging part? And then I say, what parts need some more improvement? In a way, it gives me an outside voice so that I could take a look and say, okay, well, this part works. This part needs some retooling. The other one that I. That I use.
York's WifeAre you still going to be on that podcast thing? Huh?
YorkHey, just. Just one moment. I'm just getting interrupted here by my wife.
Dave JacksonWe got a lot of things to do.
YorkOne moment. As I said, I use the. The voice, the 11 labs, because sometimes it's hard to get a voice actress or an. So when I'm in the pinch of things, huh?
Dave JacksonWell, who do you think I am?
York's WifeI spend the whole day cooking and.
Dave JacksonCleaning, and you're on the computer.
YorkAnyways, thank you so very much, Dave, for Question of the Month. And if you want to hear a podcast that puts in all of these ideas together, then listen to my show. Welcome to Earth Stories. We've been on the air since 2017. We have voices from all around the world. These are stories that you can't get anywhere else. For more details, you could go on my website.Welcome to earthstories.com.
Dave JacksonAre you finished yet? Are you done?
YorkYeah, I'm almost done. All right, take care, Dave. I'll talk to you soon.
Dave JacksonThank you, York. And next up, some call him Tim, and he's explaining how he uses AI with guests.
Timothy BrienHey, Dave, this is Timothy Chemo Brian, your head instigator at Create Art podcast, where I help my listeners tame their inner critic. And create more than they consume. You can find all my episodes@createartpodcast.com I also run Find a podcast about where I help my listeners over there find their next binge worthy podcast and outsmart the algorithm. You can find it at Findapodcast.About XYZ I use ChatGPT and I use a simple prompt and basically that prompt is give me a list of questions that are unique and inspiring and have not been asked to this guest in the past for their appearance on Create Art podcast. And I usually get about 10 or 15 questions and I look through those questions, tweak a couple of them and look at what they're ready to answer, tweak a couple of those and that's what I go into my interview with. And you know, if I don't ask all the questions, that's fine. I'd rather have too many than too few.So the next area that I use is I use both Descript and Hindenburg Pro. So initially I'll put it in Hindenburg Pro.You know, I'll throw some filters on there, some, you know, room noise so that way we can get rid of that kind of stuff. But then I'll put it through Descript and I'll look at the filler words and I'll use their studio sound just to in case I miss something in Hindenburg, just to give it that little extra oomph. And that is AI right there. Descript is using AI to help improve the sound of the show. Now obviously with Hindenburg they have different plugins and I consider those AI as well. And it helps with especially the Deep Breath plugin. I use that. Thank you so much for that tip.The actual, you know, editing portion of the show, I use those AI services in my production. So now it comes time to upload it to my media host. I use Captivate and Captivate has AI tools now. It'll go and make my transcripts for me.Do I need to go in there and touch it up a bit? Absolutely. Because for some reason when I say Timothy Keemo Brian, it does the Keemo as K E Y M O and then it'll put O'Brien as my last name.My last name is spelled B R I E N. I'm French Canadian. I am not Irish. Nothing wrong with Irish people. Irish people are lovely, but that's just not my last name.So every time I do need to adjust that. But then with the AI, it'll also give me possible show titles. Now do I use them a lot of times I'll use them. I found it to be pretty good.I'll adjust them, I'll tweak them here and there. Then it'll give me show notes and I find that really good in case I forget something. So I'll use some of the show notes, not all of them.I think sometimes they're a little bit too verbose. But one thing I really do like is the takeaways that it gives me. Another thing it gives me is it gives me a SEO description.Using all these tools really cuts my production time down. I can record a 20 or 30 minute episode and I can be out the door, all my editing, everything done in about an hour. So, you know, an episode with nobody else in there runs me about an hour and a half. I'm a dad of twins and I have a full time job and I'm a full time husband. So that savings in time is priceless to me.So I do make show art or episode art for each and every episode. I use Canva for that. And what I do there is I have a template already set up in Canva for each show for, you know, all my episode art.And what I'll do is I will type in a word that relates to the show. One of the SEO words that I get from Captivate will go into Canva and it'll pop up a picture for me and I'll choose whichever picture I find is appropriate. And so that helps me out with that. The next step that I'll do is in Vista Social, which I got off of Appsumo and I love it.I'll take the SEO description, I'll put it into Social Vista and I'll have them rewrite that SEO description, either lengthen it, shorten it, you know, make it sound more inspirational, sound more creative, what have you. And that'll be my social media post. Now something I've been playing around with is Notebook lm.So I'll take the transcript in text form from Captivate and I'll put it into NotebookLM and NotebookLM will create a deep dive and I'll take the recording off of that and I will put it in my Substack newsletter and I'll let people know, hey, this is, you know, coming from AI, but it's a deep dive and either the day of the show or the day after the show, after that airs, I'll pop that out to my substack newsletter and you know, I'm getting about 20% opens in my sub stack. So I think people are enjoying it. They're not really responding back to me. They're not, you know, engaging with me there. But it's something that I thought, you know what? I want to give it a shot. I want to check it out, see what all the buzz is and work with it that way. That's how I'm using AI for my shows. And the important thing is it's saving me a lot of time. All right, that's all I have for you for the month of March, Dave.Keep on doing the great work that you're doing and can't wait to hear what everyone else has for this episode.
Dave JacksonThank you, Tim. In a second, I'm going to talk about some things as I listen to this. There's some really good things going on here. There are some other things that we have to go, oh, wait a minute. And I'll explain how I took something that used to take me about six hours and now takes me about an hour and a half right after this. The school of podcasting. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought it'd be fun to bring in my favorite brainstorming person. Good old chatgpt. Hey, I'm back.
York's WifeAwesome. All connected.
Dave JacksonAll connected. So I'm doing an episode about using AI for podcasters. When it comes to having AI evaluate like a transcript, how does AI have any kind of nostalgia?
York's WifeThat's an interesting point. AI doesn't have emotions or memories like we do, so it can't feel nostalgia. But it can recognize patterns or references that might evoke nostalgia for humans. So it can highlight or suggest moments that might trigger those feelings in your audience.
Dave JacksonWhen it comes to editing an episode or things like that, what would be a good prompt? Some of my audience is brand new to AI, so what would be a prompt that we might want to use if we're trying to have AI evaluate our content?
York's WifeA simple prompt could be something like, summarize the main points of this episode. Or if you're looking for feedback, you could ask identify areas where the pacing could be improved. That way, AI can give you specific, actionable insights.
Dave JacksonI hear that you're supposed to specify who the audience is. Like, if you're, you know, take this transcript. My audience is such and such some sort of person. How important is that we specify who the audience is?
York's WifeIt's pretty important. Knowing the audience helps the AI tailor the analysis to what resonates with them. For example, if your audience is beginners, AI can suggest simplifying complex terms. If they're more advanced, it can focus on deeper insights. It's like giving context so the feedback is more relevant.
Dave JacksonAnd one of the questions that my audience has all the time is how do you grow your podcast audience? Do you have any insights on how to grow your podcast audience?
York's WifeDefinitely. One approach is to leverage social media and engage with your listeners there. Another is collaborating with other podcasters for cross promotion. Also optimizing your SEO so your podcast is easier to find, can help. And of course, consistently delivering valuable content is key.
Dave JacksonAbsolutely. I think that's all I have for now.
York's WifeGreat. I'm glad I could help. Talk to you later.
Dave JacksonSee ya. There's one creepy line in that, and.
York's WifeThat is this AI doesn't have emotions or memories like we do.
Dave JacksonI believe that statement should be like, you do, as in, you, Dave do. I do not. But yeah, there's a little Nero linguistic programming going on there, I believe. And so for me, I am not a huge fan of having AI write things for me, I am a fan of using it to brainstorm like you just heard. And then I will write something with my human actual intelligence, and then I will throw that into something.I've been using Claude a lot and just using these elaborate prompts like make this better. And I'm finding I really like the way Claude writes a little better than chat GPT and my buddy Chris and a member of the school of podcasting, Chris Stone from castahead.net was nice enough to make us all a quick overview of magi. And this is another tool I've heard like poe. The first time I heard about Poe, and that's just Poe links to everything again out in the show notes.I heard about that from Craig Van Slyke from AI Goes to College. And then I found magi. And I'm not sure why I like Magi better, but I just, It's. I've just started playing it.And that's the one thing, the point I wanted to bring up here, whatever AI tool you are using, set aside if need an evening or two to learn how to use it.Because I'm finding the more I kind of slowly dig into these, that doing things like letting the tool know who your audience is and what you're trying to do.And I've heard things like you are now an expert copywriter and you are writing, you know, a page for potential podcasters who need to get a podcast audit, something of that nature. Right. That would be one of mine, obviously. So yours would be your audience, what you want them to do, et cetera, et cetera, that can give you better results that require less Tweaking. I also, like Tim mentioned, I love the AI tool in Captivate. And much like Tim said, it needs a little tweaking. You can go into your settings and say, always right in first person, make it a little snarky, or stay completely professional. And again, I use some of it, not all of it.But one of the things I really love is, especially for this episode, it's going to bring up all the companies mentioned and all the websites mentioned, which is a nightmare when I do these types of episodes, even though you guys are all doing a great job of saying what your website is having to go back through and dig those out. So that's another tool. The tool that really saves me a lot of time is Descript. Now, this is again, as always with all podcasts, it depends. And so I do a 90 minute live show on Saturday morning. If you ever want free podcast consulting, just join us at 1030 Eastern. That's in the morning. So grab your cereal and come on over to askthepodcastcoach.com live. And at the end of that, I go into Descript. Now, this is a live show where myself and Jim Cullison from homegadgetgeeks.com are going off the cuff with people asking us questions. So to say there is more than average amounts of ums. Now, I realize people say, and don't go crazy with that, but there are times when we, you know, and the other thing we do is the, the, the thing you're doing a lot of double words. And so what I did, much like Tim said, I'm just going to try this, I go in and I say remove in double words. And then of course, I listen to this. Now in the past, I kind of, I'm getting a little lax on listening to it before I post it. So I kind of know that eventually I'm going to go, ooh, that was a bad edit. But so far they've been really good. And it used to be I would go through, I would get done at noon and I would literally walk away from my desk around 5 or 6 o'clock. Now I can go in to Descript and say, remove the filler words, add some chapters. And this is.Do you guys remember I did a question of the month where I was asking about chapters and everybody kind of likes them, but they're not really top of mind at this point. With that show, you really need chapters because we're changing topics about every 10 minutes and descript will put them in for me.Now, are they, you know, grade A Plus, no. But on the other hand, my audience isn't really, you know, going, dave, what's up with the chapters? And that's one of the things I worry about. That's the other point. So, number one, learn the tool so that you can again, sharpen your ax before you start chopping down that tree. And then the other one is, we think they're working because people are not saying, hey, what's up with this? Well, have you ever gone to a restaurant and your Coke was warmer than your meal? And you're like, ugh.And then you go to check out, and they're like, how was everything? And you say, of course. Say it with me. Fine. And then you never go back. And so I'm. I'm worried that there may be people going, man, that sounded awful. That was horrible, whatever the deal is. And they never come back, which is why you need to do an audience survey. So that's one of those things that I should probably do on Ask the Podcast Coach, just to see if anybody's going. I know I had one guy, he kept emailing me that something with Pocket Cast that it just kept stalling in the show. And I use Buzzsprout for that.I wasn't having a problem. And I love Pocket Cast. It's a great app.I will probably be talking about that and other kind of Podcast Movement Evolutions recaps in a future show, because I look up and we're right around 30 minutes. So those are the tools I use. If Tim is counting plugins as AI, which I guess, in a way it is. I use a bunch of plugins for. I use my. It's from Waves. It's called Chef's Omni Studio. I use a couple from. I forget the name of the company, but it's dialog. Enhance is one I use. And then dialogue. Revive something. And I'll put links to those out in the show notes. Let me see if I can see. Here it is. That is from the company called Great Show Prep Dave Accentize. Now, those are not cheap plugins, but if you're looking for something that really cleans things up, studio sound is great. And one of the things I did get at Podcast Movement Evolutions is I got a demo of Riverside. And I don't have anything bad to really say about Riverside. The one time I used it was literally probably three or four years ago, and it was, you know, fresh out of the oven, and it was not ready for primetime. But I know a lot of people that really love that tool. People ask Me that all the time. You know which one.Show your Riverside squad, cast, descript, podcastle, etc. Etc. And I'm like, the one that works for you. Because they all kind of change from time to time. But in the end, when it comes to AI, as we kind of wrap up this segment, always listen to it before you post it. So I know you're going to say, dave, you just said you kind of been getting lax on that. Yeah. And I probably will have a episode in the future where I'm like, remember when I kind of quit listening to the edits? Yeah. It bit me in the butt. So always do that, especially with writing. There is a website right now, I won't say their name that says podcasting has had a discoverability problem since the 90s. And I'm like, yeah, because it didn't exist in the 90s, that is a problem. It's really hard to discover things when you know you don't exist. And another AI tool I use is Resound. And all this is if you have Descript, you don't need it, but you upload a file to it. And it could even be both sides of an interview. And it just removes ums and, and us and big long pauses. And I have found that is one where it used to take me two hours to do that manually. And I can blow through a 45 minute interview in about, I don't know, 15, 20 minutes. And the thing I like about that is it does the edit and then lets me hear the edit and I can say, yep, good, next.So it's a little different than Descript, but that is the one I use for my editing clients because often my client has people on that are not native English speakers. So there are a lot of ums and that tool comes in handy. And I don't know, again, it's just, it's artificial intelligence. It figures out what an um and a looks like and it just blasts them out and you can go through. So if you are constantly removing ums and oz that are so many that they become distracting again. People say.People say, but when there's so many that it distracts you from what they're saying because you're obsessed with how they say it, that's when it's time to remove them.So thanks to everyone who chimed in, I'll have links to all the companies and everybody's podcast out@schoolofpodcasting.com 978, the School of Podcasting. You know how I say you need to make content that's so good, you can't help but share it. And I got some of that from my good friend Paul Culligan.I've known Paul for probably 20 years now, and we were talking about, you know, consulting, etc. Etc. And I went through my whole, you know, what's. Why are you doing this? Who's it for? What will you talk about how you measure success? And he looked at me and goes, oh, it's not like my questions. He said, I ask, what do you want the podcast to do? And I was like, man, that's the question. If you take, why am I doing this? And how will I measure my success? Which are two that I do, you could wrap those into one. What do you want the podcast to do?Because if you want it to grow your network, well, then do interviews. If you want it to bring business to your company, then maybe do a solo show and answer questions from your customers so you can kind of explain how great your product is. But that's a question that I was like, that's an efficient way to figure out, what are you doing with your podcast? What do you want it to do?And so you can find Paul over@podcastpartnership.com. he's a good friend of mine we were talking about at the very first podcast kind of event.I believe back then it was the Portable Media Expo, because we're all about, ooh, look at this new I River thing. And we both said, I remember Paul was standing there with a box, I think, of books because he's an author. And he said, you know, I think if we get enough people to listen to these things, we could actually make some money. And there was actually. If you've ever listened to this show, you'll hear me talk about it's my art man. That's actually a dude. There was a dude that's like, why would you want. It's your art man. And I get it. Art man, that, you know, you would never charge for something, but sometimes people want to make money for that. That's another feature, another topic. We're going to talk about that.I think the reason some people want to monetize their show is not that they need the money, that they need the verification that their podcast is good enough to sponsor. And I was like, that's an interesting thought and not always entirely accurate because your show was good way before you got a sponsor. And I always like to remind people, you don't have to have a sponsor if you don't want to make any money with your podcast. Just enjoy your art, man. No, you don't have to do that. So keep that in mind. You could get paid in fun, you could get paid in friends, things of that nature. So in the future, in case you're like, hey, Dave, I wanted to attend your thing at Podcast Movement, and I didn't make it.The first one wasn't recorded and the second one was. But I think in the future, I will be doing those presentations here on the show.Plus, again, as I mentioned, I'm working one about running your podcast as a business because, well, you'll see when we get there. But if you're like, I don't really care about making money, there are lessons there that can actually apply to your personal life as well. Now you can follow the show by Simply going to schoolofpodcasting.com/follow and never, ever miss an episode. I'm Dave Jackson from the school of podcasting. I help podcasters. It's what I do. And until next week, take care. God bless. Class is dismissed.

Dave JacksonThank you, Ralph. Yeah, Ralph is the guy I am working with. To that episode about, you know, using your podcast. Boy, that was awful.Episode 976, we interviewed Stephanie Thomas, and that's one of those things where it's. Did I say Thomas? Stephanie Thompson. Well, we're going to do that again now, aren't we? That was episode 976. No, it wasn't, you idiot. Oh, geez.
